Amazing Aviators, Amazing Engineers, Amazing Musicians, Amazing Olympians and Amazing People of England. Today, I completed this collection of books for the Amazing People Publication Series. They will distributed by Hachette Book Group and Ebsco from December 2011 onwards.
Thanks to our amazing team of people, especially Lisa Moffatt, our Chief Editor, we have provided a range of fascinating stories on the lives of people wh0 changed our lives by their amazing achievements.
So I gave a quick impromptu test to see if three well educated students, aged from 14 to 18, could recognize some famous and amazing people. I was surprised to discover they knew little about musicians like Vivalidi, Sinatra, or Tchaikovsky. But, they did recognize Elvis Presley and John Lennon. On the development of technology, they had little idea who the inventor the phone was or the jet engine. It was not a representative sample, but questions arise.
For me, the major ones are :
To what extent do teachers introduce pupils to the amazing people who made breakthroughs?
How do we get students to understand the way amazing people thought and apply the principles in their lives?
The students all had smart phones. They all surfed the web. They were interested to hear of the people that I mentioned. Indeed, they all realized they were living in amazing times with amazing technology. However, they seemed to have little idea of how we have arrived here due to efforts of amazing people.
Our work at the Amazing People Club indicates how teachers and their pupils can improve their own talents by learning from truly amazing people.
