Origins of TV

As the world is embracing the digital age, we are preparing to switch off the analog tv signal in most countries and move to a totally digital signal.

Many of us have new LCD or Plasma screens which beam large pictures into our living room. I note that younger people spend more time with their mobile phones and iPods as they race round from place to place but continually in contact with friends. Do you spend more time watching TV or more time with you mobile handset, or more time on your laptop computer?

It is worth reflecting on the origins of TV and how we came to sit in our living rooms and watch the world outside as that was a breakthrough that led to so many of the modern developments as it opened up new channels of communication.
